Legislated changes for Single Touch Payroll reporting commence on the 1st of July 2018. For more information about the legislated changes please visit the ATO website.
Where is the ATO at?
The ATO is currently working on Version 3 of the Single Touch Payroll message format. Care Systems will be implementing this version, which is scheduled to be available for production use at the end of March 2018.
The ATO will shortly confirm the registration process employers will need to complete in order to use the Single Touch Payroll system. This process authorises Care Systems to send employee information to the ATO on your behalf.
In late January the ATO also released the Operational Framework for software vendors providing Single Touch Payroll functionality. This is a set of detailed requirements regarding the operational and security arrangements for software and software vendors. One of the requirements is that all operators authorised to send and receive Single Touch Payroll messages have individual logons to their payroll software.
What is Care Systems doing to comply?
Care Systems is currently completing ATO conformance testing for the Single Touch Payroll functionality, and the associated operational and security requirements. An update to Care Systems 9.08.05 containing the Single Touch Payroll function will be released once Version 3 of Single Touch Payroll is released for live use by the ATO.
When the new Single Touch Payroll employer registration process is available from the ATO, Care Systems will provide procedures to assist you to complete this registration, which authorises the Care Systems software to send information to and from the ATO on your behalf.
The update containing the Single Touch Payroll legislated changes will be available as part of your existing CHAMP annual maintenance. Setup, Training and Go Live documentation will be provided to you at no additional cost. It is not anticipated that you will require on-site assistance to implement Single Touch Payroll.
