What is ExtraCare?
ExtraCare is a new Care Systems product that makes it easy to get control of your data in a way that no other Business Intelligence solution can. It empowers users to access all your management information with a simple to use query tool, including Care Systems and other databases. It aligns perfectly in mature business intelligence environments, co-existing with other enterprise solutions and can form a foundation for companies beginning their reporting journey.
Ad-hoc & Structured Reporting
Operational systems hold a wealth of meaningful data but it can be challenging to easily access timely information. ExtraCare from Care Systems is an agile technology that can be rapidly implemented to address information bottlenecks and release the hidden value in your operational systems.

The technology is a fundamental shift in how organisations manage their own Business Intelligence. Excel & Web Enablement
ExtraCare has a native Microsoft Excel® add-in that provides information in an environment users are comfortable with allowing the freedom to produce refreshable cell-based formulas, tables and charts with a few keystrokes. Excel content can also be written back to the database, subject to business rules and user rights.
ExtraCare gives information consumers web browser access to content without the need to install desktop applications. ExtraCare uses a secure web service that can communicate within a local network, wide-area network and over the internet.
Customised Data Entry
ExtraCare from Care Systems includes the “write-back” function which allows you to enter information directly in to your database. Write-backs are available as custom web data entry forms and from within Microsoft Excel®, allowing bulk load worksheet data into your operational systems.
Write-backs are secured and designed to integrate with the business rules of your Care Systems, clinical and other operational systems. This ensures all information is validated before being added to your database.
Drilldown & Drill-Through
We believe in drilldown and drill-through. Traditional BI technologies rely on complex data warehouses, cube based definitions of data relationships and complex ETL frameworks, that are expensive to implement and risky to maintain.
This Drilldown is not constrained by rigid decision trees, any field can be drilled into and if necessary, the very scope of the query can be changed on the fly. Complementing the Drilldown concept, ExtraCare has Drill-Through templates where analysis layouts can be constructed and then shared with the wider user audience.
Dynamic Drilldown or Drill Anywhere is a concept that allows the vertical or horizontal drill capability from a Query result set. This dynamic drill capability does not require a predefined query or report or result set, and can be initiated from within web, Excel and dashboard reports. Predefined Drill-Through allows a specific result set to be defined up front as the resultant dataset of a query, for example, drilling through from the header or summary record to the underlying details.
