Services that submit online claims to Medicare will have received communications from Medicare about changes coming to the system it uses to receive and send digital information about clients and claims. Care Systems has also included information about this change in our earlier newsletters.
The new technology is called Web Services. From March 13, Services Australia is switching off the old system and all claim data will need to be sent via Web Services. Along with this change, Services Australia is also replacing the system it has been using to verify the identity of users. From March 13, the current Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security system will be replaced by PRODA (PROvider Digital Access).
What has Care Systems done to prepare for Aged Care Web Services, and how will it impact us?
Care Systems has been updated to accommodate the changes Web Services will introduce. Most of the changes will be seamless and screens will continue working as they currently do. The main change most users will experience is having to register their organisation with PRODA, and link Aged Care Web Services to their PRODA account. We have produced documentation to help you through the process.

What happens next, and what do I need to do right now?
You can begin preparing for the change by ensuring your organisation has a PRODA account. Some of our clients already have a PRODA account. If you don’t, you should create one now, as a first step in the process. Over the coming weeks we will let you know about the next steps in the process (linking Aged Care Web Services to your PRODA account). For detailed instructions on how to create a PRODA account (both for an individual, and for an organisation), please read this article.
How can I find out more?
If you’d like more information about Web Services and what it will mean for you, you can find it at the Services Australia website, here.
